Welcome to Marketing Monday on The Ring The Bling And All The Things podcast. My name is Kristina Stubblefield. And for over 15 years, I've served as a marketing strategist and business coach. Also, I was once a wedding vendor. In these podcast episodes, I'm providing bite sized digestible marketing solutions, and information that can be immediately implemented, and make an impact on your business. Now, let's dive in to this episode. It's hard to believe that I'm going to cover this topic already. Because it has to do with 2022. It's right around the corner. So I figured there's no better time to go ahead and mention this stuff. So everyone can begin to prepare for 2022. Now, if you look at different reports, because you know, I'm a numbers person, it's really all over the map, anywhere. People say Are these reports show 40 to 65% of engagements happened between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day. So those are some pretty high numbers, regardless if it's the lower end of the percentages or the higher end. And that's why I feel like it's important to discuss marketing pieces that you need to focus on going into 2022. Now in the past, wedding professionals have been slower, it seems, January, February, some may even mentioned March. But with the pandemic, and dates being very scarce, I feel like that is all being kind of changed. Because people are moving their dates, people are going with dates that are available. Even people are moving to days of the week instead of just the weekend. And so I feel like wedding professionals schedules will also change. And you may think that you're not going to be as busy on some of those off seasons that people have referred to. But that might not be the case. And in all honesty, if you know that people are getting engaged, they're going to be turning to the internet to start doing their research. So it's not always best practice to wait to the first of the new year to evaluate some of your main marketing pieces. And that's why I wanted to go ahead and tackle this topic. So you can start to think about some of the items you may need to take a look at does it need to be updated? Is there changes that have happened inside your business. So I'm going to start with online presence really, this whole episode is going to be about online presence. And I want to mention two specific items that wedding professionals seem to get the most response, the most engagement, the most activity on and that is pictures and video. So when I talk about updating your different marketing assets, and marketing assets, meaning anything you use to market your business, website, social media, handouts, brochures, business cards, anything to get the word out, or that has your branding on it is your marketing assets. So pictures and video are the main items that wedding professionals should focus on. Now. That does not mean that if your pricing has changed your packages, what you offer your services, any of those kind of details, you need to make sure it's updated first and foremost, on your website. Absolutely 100% you really need to take off your business glasses, so to speak, and think of your website really tried to look at your website from a consumer end, not as the business owner, but if I'm someone visiting your website for the first time, or even if I've been there before, what do they need to know about your business? Maybe what do they want to see? What are the FA cues that they are going to be inquiring about?

You can address all of that on your website. But when you're really evaluating it going into a new year, you want to look at any You have your content does any of your wording need to be updated? Is any of your pricing changed? I've mentioned some of those just a couple minutes ago, any of your services, but also refresh your pictures, change out some of your pictures, a little trick that you can do as well is you can actually just move around your pictures, you can add a few pictures in that are new. But say you've got some favorites that you want to be on your website, that's okay. You can just shuffle the pictures around, I have clients that I've worked with that they are just absolutely in love with certain pictures, they don't want them to leave their website, no matter that it's been a couple years, or however long it's been in, that's okay. Just you can shuffle it around, and it gives it a fresh look. Maybe somebody has been there before. And they're like, Oh, look, they've done other events, check out these pictures, you're just opening up the conversation by switching up pictures adding new, that does not mean you have to get rid of your favorites, or that you have to get rid of any, you can just move them around and add to videos. For wedding professionals. I always tell people, those video highlights from the videographers are so beneficial to the other vendors as well. And you should work that relationship with that videographer and utilize those video highlights from your events on your website and your social media. But making sure you give credit where credit is due whoever that videographer is, and most of them are open to that because it's also networking their business to other outlets. So we've really talked about your website. But there's one thing that I want to mention about your website, every wedding professional should have testimonials on their websites.

And I've done a episode specifically on testimonials. People will give you testimonials you just have to ask. And I'm going to do an episode coming up on offloading is what it's called. But when you're when you have a client and you have a process when you're done working with them, some people refer to it as offloading. Some people call it off boarding, there's many terms that can be used. But asking for a testimonial should be part of that process. Even if you don't have a process in place for when you're done working with the client, the events over and you're done with your services with that client, if you don't have a process, make sure you start asking for testimonials, they can email it to you, they can go to wherever you direct them, Google Facebook, wherever you want them to leave a testimonial. Most of the time. If everything has went as the services that you provided, as it was discussed, there should be no hesitation on the end of that client. For them not to give you a testimonial or a review. It's just most of the time, that might not be the first thing that they're thinking about. They just got married. So don't forget to ask about testimonials. My point to that is, it's really important to have testimonials on your website. Because you're not just selling services. As a wedding professional, you're selling the experience. And no one can summarize the experience of working with your business better than a previous client. And so don't even hesitate to go back six months a year. If you did not ask people for testimonials to ask them. Because that is a really important item every wedding professional should have on their website. Okay, so that pretty much covers website. And really honestly wedding professionals website is a whole different ballgame. I'm just covering some of the main things for updating your online presence going into 2022. So the next thing that I want to talk about is Google My Business. First of all, if you don't have a Google My Business, you definitely should get one. I've done a previous episode on this. But you want to make sure your Google My Business listing is completely updated. Is your phone numbers still the same your address, update your pictures, your video, as I mentioned that is on everything. Because your Google My Business listing is found right in the Google search over on the right hand side. You've heard me talk about it before the knowledge panel. If you do not know what I'm referring to, then I encourage you to go back and listen to that previous episode. So your Google My Business listing is a very important, I kind of put it on the same level with your website, because Google is the number one search engine. And if people are out there doing research about wedding professionals or specific vendors for their special day, most of them are going to start somewhere on Google. The other one is your social media outlets. And I think we get so busy and we're trying to focus on our website or Google My Business. Sometimes we don't think about updating our social media outlets. And here's what I mean by this. On Facebook, for example, you have an about page, there's a description, your phone number, your contact information, but also your pictures. Like you've got your cover image, you've got your profile picture, you also have the picture that's on the right hand side on your about page. Sometimes we forget about updating those items. Also, I encourage people to make an album on Facebook that maybe recaps your weddings from the current year. That way you have control of those updated pictures that are in that album on Facebook, for example. Just making sure you go through it with a fine tooth comb, again, taking your business owner glasses off and putting the glasses on of a consumer, how they're perceiving it when they're reading through it. You're not trying to make sure all your points are there as a business owner, but the information that potential clients would be looking for. This same goes for Instagram, make sure your profile is up to date. Where are you sending them, you know, you cannot put links on your post on Instagram, you can list them there, but they're not hyperlinked. So you're really driving people to the link in your bio, where are you sending people. So make sure you really evaluate your profile description, as well as the link in Instagram. Also, you may want to do some Instagram post, recapping this past year's weddings, again, you're controlling what content you're putting up there. So if you know you're going into engagement season, and people are going to be doing research, the pictures that they're going to find on your Instagram are from some recent events. Now this doesn't, it doesn't matter if you post regularly or if you don't. Now, if you post regularly on a consistent basis about your events, you might not need to worry about that as much. But if you do not post consistently on Instagram, I definitely encourage you to go in and do some posts with multiple pictures per post about previous events, especially ones that have happened within the current year. Now also, don't forget when we mentioned social media outlets, don't forget YouTube is the second largest search engine. So make sure if you have some videos, whether they be videos from previous events, video testimonials, whatever you may have, make sure they're uploaded on your YouTube channel. Now, if you do not have a YouTube channel, you probably want to head back and listen to the episode that I did on that because YouTube is the second largest search engine, I cannot say that enough. People don't realize the impact that YouTube is having, especially on the younger generations, they are not leaving YouTube to go somewhere else to do their research. So don't forget, it's a second largest search engine, and make sure that you have some kind of updated content on your YouTube channel. Now, last but not least,

any other business listings you may have, you want to review them for accuracy. Say you're a member of the Better Business Bureau or you're a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, or you're on other wedding directories. Make sure you review your listings for accuracy, does something need to be updated? Do you need to update the pictures or videos on those listings, it is well worth the time to take a few minutes to review this information. Because that can make the difference of converting someone that finds you in a search, converting them over to your website, converting them over to picking up the phone and calling you or sending you an email. Maybe you need to break this down and one week okay, I'm gonna go through my website and see what needs to be updated the next week. Okay, I'm going to review my Google My Business listing and see what needs to be updated. The next week, I'm going to review these social media outlets. The next week, I'm going to review wherever my business is listed. However you need to break it down. I would encourage you to make sure you do that before the end of the year. The sooner the better. And yes, should it be done on a regular basis. Of course we could get into all of that, you know, I really encourage people to review their information every quarter. But realistically speaking, that doesn't always happen, especially when we're still reeling through a pandemic. For those that are in the event industry especially. So give yourself some slack. This is an episode to help you going forward. Not to say you should have done this. You should have done that. No We're going in a forward direction. And these are items that you need to review going into engagement season for upcoming events and bookings. So I hope you found this helpful. I look forward to hearing your feedback.
