In this episode, I'm sharing my top five favorite free Google tools, how to utilize them, and the valuable, detailed information they can provide for you and your business. 

Welcome to Marketing Monday, on The Ring The Bling And All The Things podcast. My name is Kristina Stubblefield. And for over 15 years, I've served as a marketing strategist and business coach. Also, I was once a wedding vendor. In these podcast episodes, I'm providing bite sized, digestible marketing solutions, and information that can be immediately implemented, and make an impact on your business. Now, let's dive in to this episode. Anybody that knows me knows that I love technology, my background is in it, as well as marketing. And one of the things that I love to discuss with people is some of the free tools from Google. And then this episode today, I want to talk about five free Google tools that you may not have even heard of before. Maybe you've heard about them, but your didn't know they were free, or you're just wasn't sure what they did or what they could offer your business. And if you can tell I'm excited. That's because I am I'm all about solution based services, products and helpful information. So let's jump right in the first one that I'm going to mention, is Google Analytics. Yes, it is free. To be honest with you, it's been around for quite a long time. I've used it for many, many, many years. And I still Honestly, I'm surprised that it's free. Now Google, that doesn't mean I want you to run out and start charging for it either. But it is a very comprehensive set of detailed analytics. That can provide you a lot of valuable information for your business. Most people I talked to, they just don't understand analytics or reporting. No matter if it has to do with your website, social media insights, they really don't realize the story that that data can give you in your business. And one of the things I really like about Google Analytics, besides that it's free, is it really can tell you everything about your website, visitors, you know, your traffic to your website. And from the source of the traffic, where it's coming from? which pages, they spend their time on? how long they're on those pages, their location, where are they coming to visit your website from? Honestly, there, there's a lot. And here's the reason why that's important. One of the first things I think about, and I talk to people about this when we're working on their website projects. So let's say you have a really good information on your about page. But when you look at your traffic reports, your Google Analytics, it tells you that the about page is the least visited page of your website. Well, you have this great information, or you have this wonderful story or some of the most important information about your business located on the about page. But none of your visitors are going to that page than that data tells you if you want people to read this information, if you want that to be part of their decision making, we need to move it to a page that is visited. Or maybe it's a more highly trafficked page. So that would either maybe be your homepage, or depending on what your Google Analytics tells you, we can move it to a different page. That's just an example. The other example I'll give you is if you run ads for your business, no matter where Facebook, Instagram, it doesn't matter. You need to know where your traffic is coming from. Because of your spending a lot of money on Instagram, but none of your traffic's coming from there. You could be wasting marketing dollars and to have such a powerful tool that gives you this insight into your business. That's why I say I'm still surprised that it is a free because of the information it provides to the business. And I guess to really summarize is this tool allows you to analyze the data however you want in one place for your business into me, everyone should be utilizing Google Analytics.

Okay, the next tool that I'm going to talk about every time I mentioned it to someone have not heard about it before. It's free. It's a Google product. It's called Google Alerts. And you may be thinking, What in the world is that? Well, actually, you can think of it like this, you can get an email alert, whenever there is information about a topic that you create an alert for. Okay, all you do is you can go to, let's see, the website is, forward slash alerts. And let me start by explaining just a little bit, a little bit further. So if you want to track if anything on the internet is mentioned about your business, I suggest that people set up a Google Alert with your business name. Now, if you use variations of your name, or if you shorten your name, you may also want to set up a Google Alert for that as well. A couple things, yes, you can have multiple Google Alerts set up. However, think about the industry you're in. Google Alerts can also give you information on an industry, it doesn't just have to be a business. So it gets a wedding trends, or new wedding trends. You can go in and program, any type of keywords that you want to set up as a Google Alert. Let's just be honest, maybe it's competition, that you want to stay up on what's going on with them. And there are people out there that do that. And this isn't the discussion whether that's right or wrong, but you're staying alert to what's going on for your business. And this can be a great way to come up with content for social media for a blog, Google Alerts is so much more than just being alerted about your own brand. Do I think that's important? Absolutely. But it is a wonderful tool to get brand new information, articles, blogs, etc, on some of your favorite topics. And it's delivered right to your email that you set up. Again, all you have to do is go to forward slash alerts. And yes, that does have an S on the end. And you get to determine those things. When you set this up. There's different parameters, the frequency of getting alerts, the types of sites that you want to get information from those sources, and the amount of results. So you get to determine those parameters when you set up an alert. But you can use this, like I said, for multiple purposes, I definitely encourage every business to have an alert set up for their business name. So you can track if anything is mentioned out there, good, bad or indifferent, you are alerted to when that happens. Google Alerts, it's one of my favorite Google tools. The next one on the list is called Google Trends. You know, things are evolving at such a fast pace. This is a tool that allows you to get information more so than Google Alerts. This is a tool to help you monitor the industry trends, you can get information on the popularity of certain words, terminology, keywords, and you can see how popular it is over something else. It allows you to really compare. And this is one that you're going to have to get in and really kind of play around with to see how it's going to work in your business. It's, forward slash trends. And a couple things when you first go to the to the website, you can also get to it by going to it will actually tell you recently trending items. Now why would that be important? Well, that means there's going to be information out there that you could share on your own social media or other outlets that may have to do with your industry you're in. And of course a lot of times when you go there Google something about Google is at the top of it. But you can really explore

trends, how things have changed from year to year, like you can even go back and it will tell you what was trending a year ago, two years ago. Again, some businesses are going to get more out of this tool than others. But it is an option for you it's free. And if you're going to start spending ad dollars, or maybe you've spend some ad dollars, but you're going to increase your ad spend into next year. This is a tool that really allows you to see what terminology is being used? You know, a lot of times I tell people, you need to think about how your consumers, your clients, or potential clients, how are they speaking? What words are they using, because if you get into your own lingo lingo, or you just talk in very professional terms, someone that is new to the wedding industry might not recognize those terms. And Google Trends is a way that you can search different terms or topics, to find out what's, what's trending, what's more popular, what words are more popular. And this tool offers a lot of features, I just wanted to kind of touch on a little bit. It's just a great free feature from Google, that made my top five list. That means I have three tools down, and I have two to go. And you definitely want to stay tuned for these two. So the next one up Google Forms. A lot of times people need to use more detailed forms that may be your contact form on your website. Google has a free software, a free tool called Google Forms. And this allows you to collect data using online forms. It is free to use as I mentioned, and you get to set it up how you want. And what I mean by that is, you can determine should it be a required answer, when a person's filling out a form is this box need to be required, you get to determine what questions get asked of them, you get to determine what happens when they submit it. There are so many powerful options inside Google Forms, that if you've been looking for an avenue to dive deeper into your inquiry forms on your website, Google Forms is a great tool because it's embeddable into your website. Now, with that being said, it depends on what information you're going to collect from the end user, you need to be careful what data you're asking of clients. If it's sensitive data, you need to make sure that you use something with the correct compliance for asking sensitive data. Now, I'm not an expert on Google Forms, I have used it but have not used it, where it has asked for sensitive data from users. So that is something you would want to dig into more, as far as asking about their wedding date, their name, their contact information, more details about their event, of course, Google Forms is a great outlet for it, and it's free. Plus, this gives you more information before you even have a conversation with somebody that's inquiring. And that's just one of the ways an inquiry form. There are so many other ways to use Google Forms. Really, to be honest with you, the opportunities are endless. Just sometimes people don't even know that Google has a software or a tool that allows for online forms. So if that's something that you're needing to dive into, I would encourage you to look up Google Forms. And you can get to it by going to forward slash forms. Now, with that being said, there's one tool left in this episode to talk about. And it's probably one of my absolute favorites. And again, this is an all of the tools that Google offers, I just wanted to pick my top five that I felt like could be beneficial to know listeners. And this one is called Webmaster Tools. It is a Google product, of course, but it gives you valuable information about site traffic, site health, optimization, suggestions, and other resources. If you have a website, this is a valuable tool that you want to utilize for your business. Because

it also gives you the opportunity to submit your website, your Sitemaps to Google's index. Now, I don't want to get too technical here. But the biggest takeaway here is this Webmaster Tools is free from Google. And it has a lot of options. Now, even though I still refer to it as Google Webmaster Tools, and actually over the past couple years has gone by a different name. It's called Google's search console. So I still refer to it as Webmaster Tools, but for this episode, I need to make sure you know exactly how to get there. And in order to get there you go to search dot google dot com, forward slash Search Console. Now, when you first get there, it's going to take you kind of walks you through the steps. And it's so much more than just data, it really helps give you valuable information about your website. And it's really easy to go through and set it up. And that's something that I encourage everyone to do. Because not only does it give you information, but it also alert you to any issues and how to address them on your website, which is critical. Obviously, if Google is telling you, it's going to affect your search results. So you want to fix any issues on your website. And I really think Google does a good job of summarizing this search console tools and reports help you measure your site's search traffic and performance, fix issues, and make your shot site shine in Google search results. Now, I don't know about you. But since Google is the number one search engine, you definitely want your site to shine, especially on Google search results. So that's why I feel like it's an important tool for everyone to take advantage of it's free. And it is just a powerful instrument to make sure your business is set up correctly, in regards to the website for search results. So these are the five Google tools that I wanted to spotlight that I felt were most beneficial to those in the wedding industry.
